1.Are e-cigarettes less harmful than regular cigarettes?
Yes - but that doesn't mean vaping is safe. E-cigarette aerosols typically contain fewer toxic chemicals than the 7,000 deadly chemicals in regular cigarette smoke. However, e-cigarette aerosols are not harmless. It may contain harmful and potentially harmful substances including nicotine, heavy metals such as lead, volatile organic compounds and carcinogens.
2.Can e-cigarettes help adults quit smoking?

E-cigarettes are not currently approved by the FDA as a smoking cessation aid. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, a group of health experts that makes preventive care recommendations, has concluded that there is insufficient evidence to recommend e-cigarettes for adults, including pregnant women, to quit smoking.

In 2022, 2.55 million American middle and high school students have smoked e-cigarettes in the past 30 days, among which middle school students accounted for 3.3% (380,000), and high school students accounted for 14.1% (2.14 million).
In 2020, 3.7% of U.S. adults currently use e-cigarettes.
Among current adult e-cigarette users in 2019, 36.9% were also current smokers, 39.5% were former smokers, and 23.6% were never smokers.
Among current adult e-cigarette users, the proportion of never smoked cigarettes was highest among 18-24 year olds (56.0%) and lower among older age groups.
